Site Tasks Summary

MVR work consisted of landscape design for the 2006 Central Area Enhancement Plan, as well as collaborative involvement in a Long-Term Master Plan for this Metro North Railroad (MNR) Hudson Riverfront facility.

2006

The new canopy (left) and plaza were major upgrades at the station, which enhanced it as a ‘Gateway’ for  visitors who arrive by rail or ferry to the Town of Beacon and the renown Dia Beacon Art Museum. Design involved plantings, grading/wall details, fence/ railing selections, and paint colors.

Sustainable Planting

Included durable perennials, evergreens to screen utility structures, and trees to highlight the station on the scenic Hudson River. Plantings have matured with no irrigation and low maintenance, and, still have four season appeal.

PRIME INTEREST

The 2006 landscape won a Design Merit Award from the NY Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
